The strong moments to remember from Madrid Fashion Week.
The 67th edition of madrid’s mercedes benz fashion week took place last week from the 24th to the 29th of january. 48 shows in 6 days, with the presence of big spanish names and the emergence of new talent. take a look back at the key moments. we kick off with agatha ruiz de la prada, an internationally renowned brand. the designer wanted to make reference to the current affairs of her country and the issue of independence which was notably represented with a catwalk covered in the colours of spain. fashion printed with patriotism!another big name, custo barcelona, who emphasizes graphically cut and asymmetric dresses, with a play on brightness. pedro del hierro celebrates his return to the catwalk following a 15 year absence. a return that coincides with brand’s 30th anniversary. an elegant and feminine collection presented at the city’s railway museum.the spanish lingerie brand andrés sardá presented a collection for spring/summer 2018, available for sale immediately after the show. on the catwalk, a collection of swimwear, proposing a variety of bikinis and trikinis. designs inspired by the eighties, aerobics, videogames, music videos and tv series’. plus an assured finale from the spanish star: mario vaquerizo. juan duyos fixates on a new objective and turns his show into a true demonstration. fashion for every type of woman, supermodel or not. the queen letizia of spain chose one of the designer’s dresses, made from a shawl from manila, for one of her summer events. devota & lomba, is characterised by its work on volumes and shapes. architectural pieces which are inspired by nature, in particular an asian tree represented on stage. the second skin revives the eighties with squared shoulder silhouettes, a belted waist and an allure that’s both graphic and sexy. urde studio, a work on the effects of materials, with motifs styled into branches, printed on woolen materials, and pleats or volumes inspired by cooking utensils. madrid manso, also spreads educational messages, with a play on volumes. oliva, pushes décor and makeup with graphic lines to present a collection of minimalist, clean and functional cuts. macros luengo, proposes a succession of coats with prominent pockets- clear and multicoloured. juana martin works with volumes through knots, frills and excessive brightness. noting at anel yaos, the work on knitwear, the blend of materials and the multicoloured frills. a fashion week that ends with the palomo show, one of the big new spanish names, a spectacular collection, inspired by the portraits of vélazquez from the court of philip iv, with men in bustiers, culottes and puffed shirts or an enveloping feathered cape, all applauded by pedro almodovar. music royalty free: bandit & nikit
